Some people also tend to lose their teeth due to an accident. But that shouldn't stop you from looking better like before. So, if you face trouble with broken teeth or know someone who needs to have their set fixed, medical science has brought to you dentures as the solution.
What are Dentures?
Dentures are a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues in the mouth and many dentists resort to the fixes after removing damaged or broken teeth. It is a fantastic innovation in the field of dental sciences that helps people to look good and even chew the food.
Types of Dentures
There are two types of dentures available in the market that are complete dentures and partial dentures.
1. Complete Dentures: The complete set is used when all the natural teeth are missing or removed due to some problems. They are available in two forms – conventional or immediate. A conventional set is used after all the teeth are removed from their places and the gums begin to heal. The conventional denture set is made from the removed teeth and is ready for placement in the mouth after eight to twelve weeks from surgery.
On the other hand, immediate dentures are made in advance for the sake of filling the missing teeth after the operation. As soon as the teeth are removed, they can be positioned into the patient’s mouth. As a result, there is no need for the patient to consume liquid food during the time the gums and bones shrink. The major disadvantage of immediate denture set is that it requires frequent adjustments during the process and hence, should only be considered as a temporary solution.
2. Partial Dentures: They, however, are used by people who have some missing natural teeth and not the whole set. A removable partial denture comprises of replacement teeth that are fitted to a gum-colored plastic base and is often connected by a metal framework to hold the denture in position. The bridge fills in the missing places and prevents other teeth from misalignment. It is more natural looking than complete denture set and is effective in keeping the other teeth intact.
